Press Conference Delay
Competition Results
With the season now over its time to look at the predictions made during the run in. AG and myself predicted the final table. Our assesment wasnt far off, though Wigans late collapse surprised us both.
This time round AG takes the narrowest of victories given that he had West Ham edging Wigan for the 9th spot.

Al's Testimonial
The Perfect Setting..
And a full house.
The last kickoff? or will Shay tempt him back next season?
10 seconds later
There were still plenty of surprises to come. Even Shola got into the act, pretended like he had some movment, dont worry though, it didnt last...
All smiles now the seasons over
All the lads were on show...
Even Gazza got in on it (scored a penalty in the England vs Scotland competition at half time)
Luque Who's Boss (Great finnish too)
The General got the armband back
Speed got his hands on it for a bit too - and handed out a few earbashing that Al would have been proud of
3-2 Newcastle at fulltime with Alan hitting the penalty after a blatent foul on Sir Les
'Youre more than just a sheet metal worker's son from Gosforth... You're a LEGEND'
Shearer collects a tribute and talks to the fans
Lap of honour
The end of an era. Thanks Al!

Bleak forecasts for new Vista
With the release date long gone (with the original name - longhorn) has been dealt another blow with the second major analyst advising users against the switch.
Apparently microsoft is finaly trying to deal with the issues posed by having default admin accounts but making a right hash of it.
Is anyone surprised?

One team in europe..... Only one team in europe!
My entertainment on wednesday night was an altogether much more important (and fairer) contest in the form of The Apprentice Final.
The Badger vs The blonde one.
Yes, as expected the blonde one won....
...but back to the football and the only disapointment is the thought of not being able to beat the mackems again next season

Layout Issues
I dont know why, but there is an issue with the table that is leaving acres of blank page.
So, as i have more important things to do (i know, that is hard to believe!) it will remain and bug me till this section moves to the archive or i get round to fixing it.
Dont bank on the latter.

Sven has announced his England squad for the upcoming World Cup. The biggest surprise is the inclusion of Theo Walcott, a player that Sven admits he has never seen play. While nobody will argue that he is not an amazing talent, given that Wright-Phillips is a very similar player with much more experience this is quite a snub.
There are no surprises at the back with the normal candidates all retaining their places. The midfield seems to lack something with jenas, hargreaves, lennon and Downing all included. The biggest concern could appear to be with the striker selection, given that Rooney is unlikely to be fit and Mickey has to be a doubt, we could be left with Crouch and Walcott to lead the line - something you would have been locked up for suggesting at the start of the season.
Obviously there are the reserves that can be called upon nearer the time should owen or rooney not be available and the formation could be altered so we do have options but its not a forward lineup to fill you with confidence.
For my own part im unsure what hargreaves and JJ bring to the squad. if we find ourselves 1-0 down to Brasil i cant see much on our bench that is going to scare them and given the injury worries we have taking three holding midfielders is a luxury we may regret.
Despite this less than glowing review it is important to remember that this england squad, with the 'golden generation' that the press love to write about, still has some phenomenal players. In John Terry,Jamie Carragher, Ashley Cole, Frank Lampard, Stevie Gerrard, Joe Cole, David Beckham and Michael Owen there is a core of players that have the ability to beat the best in the world.
For the fans part we must pray that the injured heal and the fit remain so, and now that the squad has been announced support the players as if they were in black and white.
Believe....
Wright: 'Sven Incompetent' Shocker
They may be Chmpions...
One of the biggest dissaopintments of the season came on Sunday afternoon when worthy champions Chelsea came to Toon. Fielding a weakened side (if there is such a thing) you could have understandably expected an entertaining free flowing football. To be fair to Chelsea they started brightly and at five past four a good game was on the cards.
Unfortunatley, the boys from the bridge reverted to type with some disgraceful behaviour from the senoir payer who really should know better. Carvalho was typical, going doen on the edge of his box like he had been shot, quick call the surgens his leg must need amputating, but wait, gone are the days of the magic sponge, no the premierhips finest respond to treatment of a different kind, notable a card. In Carvaliho's case, as soon as the ref had the cheek to issue only a yellow he was on his feet calling for red.
When are the FA going to look at diving retrospectivly and allocate yellow cards for each instance, it will not take long for the cheats to be banned.
Note to Riley, if you have to go to a wall to tell them to stop moving towards the free kick, you may wish to consider asking them to move back the whole 10 yards.
